Our next ‘Stand By Me’ Seminar is being held on 23 March 2017, 9am – 12 noon at Heartfelt House

Bookings are essential as places are limited – Cost $50 per person.

It takes a tremendous amount of courage for a survivor of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) to disclose about their experience. Research has shown, that if a survivor discloses and is believed, re-assured and offered support and resources, he/she will be encouraged to take further steps towards realising the life they have hoped and wished for.

To increase the possibility of this happening, Heartfelt House designed ‘Stand by Me’.

Stand By Me is a three hour seminar designed for those working with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CSA). The seminar is suitable for counsellors/psychologists, but also aims to reach those who come across survivors unintentionally, as a secondary aspect to their work, eg. nurses, workers in employment/training agencies, teachers, doctors/dentists, police/lawyers.

The seminar will cover: Information about Heartfelt House and the 18-week group program for adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse ‘Taking the first Steps’; Coping strategies that adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse might adopt to deal with the effects of the abuse eg: thought patterns, behaviours, belief systems, addictions and which could indicate that the person you are dealing with is a survivor of CSA; How to respond if an adult survivor discloses their childhood sexual abuse. We provide clear strategies and recommendations for this situation, including a script that will help workers to ease their anxiety  about how to respond to disclosure by a client; and Best practise recommendations for supporting an adult survivor beyond the first disclosure.

Please call Heartfelt House on 6628 8940 during office hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9am and 3pm for further information and registration.
